Sharks of Jupiter
Beneath the surface of the sea there is a liquid atmosphere, a world free from the laws of gravity. Submerging into the unknown, prehistoric creatures emerge from the blue infinity. Rays of sunlight dancing on the silver skin, agile sharks: Bulls, Sandbars and Silkies swim all around me. This is Jupiter; a small seaside town in Florida. Here the Plankton rich Gulf Stream current, comes closest to land on the American continental shelf. Species from the deep sea come close to shore.
The Gulf Stream is an oceanic highway carrying warm water from the Caribbean through the American Coast, then to Europe. Sharks seen in Jupiter vary by seasons as they travel in the current. Florida is a top spot for Shark Tourism, valuable to the local economy. In 2016 an Oceana Report indicates $221 Million dollars came in and generated 3,797 jobs. In comparison the destructive shark finning industry generated $1.05 Million dollars from all of the U.S highlighting the importance of protecting sharks globally.

These encounters change the cultural perspective of sharks as enemies removing pre existing fears that have been pushing sharks to the brink of extinction. Swimming with sharks is a full of adrenaline experience that will turn you into a Shark Addict and advocate for their conservation.
